An artist and illustrator, my paintings are mixed media and most often a celebration of nature.
I work from my home studio in Ringstead Northants. Nature has always been my greatest love as an artist. I am at my happiest in the countryside. Woods, hills, streams, open fields mountains and sea are all a constant source of inspiration.
I like to experiment with different materials on a variety of surfaces. Currently I like to paint in acrylic which I then work into with charcoal and scratch back the paint to create highlights. This method I have found works well on board ( MDF or hardboard.)
Although I consider myself a colourist, recently I have been challenging myself to try to create depth and atmosphere in a painting without colour. In my monochromatic work I use a mix of charcoal, graphite, chalk, ink and white pens.
I am beginning to incorporate architecture into my work which is another new and exciting challenge. As well as landscapes over the years I have also painted other subjects such as birds and animals, some portraiture, still life and created some abstract works.
As well as being a painter I also write and illustrate stories and rhymes for children. I currently have an ebook available on Amazon. More books are coming soon , watch this space!
I take commissions and to date have completed specific landscapes, dog portraits, houses and some more illustrative pieces.
